Summary

The Senior Director of Sanitation (SDS) will ensure the proper allocation, implementation and execution of all Sanitation related actions, efforts, conditions, and behaviors of both internal and 3rd party sanitation teams supporting the Perdue Foods Group.  The SDS will be responsible for all Sanitation based KPIs, metrics, conditions, and behaviors for all Perdue Foods. The SDS will work closely with each Site Director to ensure they are receiving the best possible support and performance from the local Sanitation Team(s). The SDS will collaborate directly with members of our Food Safety/Quality Assurance and Operations Teams in ensuring the implementation of definitive and stringent cleaning and sanitation procedures. The SDS will ensure we are maintaining compliance with industry regulations and company standards across all Perdue facilities in the United States and Canada. This position will be based out of Concord, North Carolina.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of sanitation schedules, ensuring that production downtime is minimized, and cleaning activities are seamlessly integrated into daily operations. Ensure that the plant is cleaned daily and ready to start production on time.
  • Develops and effectively articulates the company’s Sanitation Strategy as it relates to senior & plant management, regulatory bodies, chemical and sanitation providers.
  • Oversees all elements of Perdue’s Sanitation management systems and support personnel to ensure the flawless and safe execution of the plant sanitation process-
  • Partners with business colleagues where improvements and execution of sanitation program are needed
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and refine sanitation protocols and procedures
  • Trains and instructs employees regarding sanitation standards, GMPs, SSOPs and department objectives
  • Ensures that our Sites effectively Manage the day-to-day implementation of sanitation protocols and safety measures to achieve productivity and quality objectives
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agency regulations (OSHA, DOL, USDA/FDA, etc.)
  • Ensures that all practices, procedures, and conditions support the health and well-being of our Associates or any other persons or person that participates in a Sanitation related exercise or effort.
  • Follow all company policies including, but not limited to general manufacturing and safety practices.
  • Ensure that work is completed following relevant codes, programs, policies, procedures, and regulations. Ensures proper documentation of all is compiled, stored and readily available for audit or review.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and performance teams for suggesting methods to improve processes, efficiency, quality, and service.
  • Be able to supply after-hours telephone and on-site troubleshooting assistance to production departments in a 24-hour, 7 days a week operation.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to GMP, HACCP, Health and Safety, Attendance.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of 10 years of relevant multisite management of sanitation systems and programs. Preferred degrees in Food Science, Engineering, Microbiology, or related area

  • Knowledge of Food Safety and Sanitation Related Regulations (USDA/FDA)
  • Must have experience managing 3rd Party Sanitation providers as well as internal programs.

  • Strong business, planning, communication and financial skillset with the ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience and excellence in coaching, collaborating and influencing; a proven leader of people who is able to recruit, develop and mentor a top-notch team capable of supporting future growth and has demonstrated leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and community.
  • Proven ability to interact clearly and effectively with cross functional business partners to establish targets and maintain timelines to ensure timely and quality execution.
  • Strong demonstrated transformational skills (inspiring, problem solving, communication across multiple organizations, executing) to provide evidence-based leadership, and the ability to utilize these skills with all levels of team members, management and community leaders is required.
  • Proven ability to operate successfully in a rapidly growing organization, inclusive of demonstrated ability to coordinate efforts in addressing regulatory issues. Ability to formulate solutions from a broad perspective.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficient in Windows based PC and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to relate well to a wide range of constituents.
  • Must be able to function well as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, Holidays and overtime as needed.
  • Experience utilizing, managing, and affecting a formal, documented Master Sanitation System/Program.

Experience Preferred

Master’s Degree or additional education beyond a Bachelor of Science

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.  May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
