The International Team is seeking an International Merchandising Intern at our Chesapeake, VA location. 

This internship will provide an introduction to college students seeking a career in agriculture.  It will also provide an understanding of the business requirements needed to originate, procure, merchandise and the logistics of marketing various commodities internationally.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the agricultural business processes.
  • Develop an understanding of international grain origination and procurement.
  • Develop an understanding of grain storage technologies, and perform assigned research and project work related to an agricultural business.
  • Develop an understanding of the logistics and transportation requirements for the movement of international grain.
  • Develop an understanding of the environmental and safety requirements of an agricultural business.


Minimum Education

Must be a Junior or Senior currently pursuing a Bachelors degree at an accredited university in a relevant field of study.  Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA or higher; 3.25 GPA or higher is highly preferred.

Experience Requirements

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have strong communication skills including written and verbal.  Must be able to work independently or in teams. 

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in different production environments (hot and cold). Some minor lifting may be required (product cases). Able to move freely about farms and other agricultural areas.  Exposed to external weather conditions to include rain and extreme temperatures (-15 to 90 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 - 100%), and noise (50db to 100db).  Able to use standard office equipment to include telephone, computers, copiers etc.
