The Senior Director of Retail Sales is responsible for leading the West Region Perdue Premium Prepared team & business.  The Senior Director is accountable to building & executing the plans with the team to drive profitable growth volume & drive share growth for the region.  This person will lead & continue to develop this high performing team.  They will establish strong customer relationships with key retailers across the region is key.  Retailers include:  Walmart, Kroger, Target, Meijer, Albertsons, Trader Joes and other regional grocery.  Product lines include fresh prepared, frozen prepared, prepared deli and turkey. 


LOCATION:  Home office-based; location is flexible but ideally located in a major, central city with easy access to a large airport (preferably Chicago, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Bentonville).

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establishes and implements strategic plan for the region.
  • Develops and executes the annual plan (Operating Plan) – profit, revenue & volume.  
  • Priority focus:  manage the retailer plans, product mix & execution to drive the most profitable region results. 
  • Build & maintain strong & productive customer relationships by wiring across the key region retailers & supporting broker partners.
  • Manages the team including recruiting, developing, and evaluating sales & category management associates.
  • Manages travel & expense budget for region.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal partners for optimal outcomes for both the Company and the customer.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree, or equivalent related work experience, in Sales, Marketing and or Business Administration plus 8 - 10 years sales management experience (CPG industries and/or Meat/Poultry).  Experience must include managing, recruiting, developing and evaluating direct reports.  Must possess strong analytical skills (financial & syndicated data) coupled with mastery of sales communication. Customer experience:  Grocery (west region supermarket experience across Albertsons Safeway & other regional chains), Walmart, Kroger, Target, Meijer and Trader Joe’s.  Should anticipate 20% of their time in travel .
