Summary
The Live Production Team is actively recruiting for a Senior Hatchery Manager. The purpose of this position is to manage and provide direction for hatchery operations necessary to support breeder and live production needs.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for the supervision & safety of all associates that work in the hatchery. To set up & enforce safety programs, committees, to instruct associates on all local, state, federal & Perdue safety programs.
- Responsible for the maintenance & inventories of the building & all equipment. To maintain inventories, equipment, parts & supplies as needed for operation. Coordinate all eggs required for all breeder placements and insure no shortages occur.
- Responsible for quality and production requirements. Initiate programs to accomplish the best possible hatchability with a health chick. Goal setting to accomplish competitive cpmh in all departments. Participate in the QIP
- Responsible for all government required reporting such as community right to know, EPA, and all state & federal requirements.
- Responsible for total operating costs of the hatchery. Must set goals in all costs areas to stay competitive with other hatcheries.
- Be able to perform any and all jobs within the hatchery in times of excessive absenteeism.
Minimum Education
Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience Requirements
- 4 years of relevant experience.
- To have knowledge of, but not limited to incubation, mechanical, management skills, OSHA government regulations and sanitation.
- To have management skills necessary to provide leadership and direction for all associates of the hatchery.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Exposed to temperatures ranging from 60° to 105° + or – and humidity’s up to 100%.
- Work in a wet, damp, dusty (chick down) environment.
- Exposed to chemicals, drugs and vaccines to be covered in msds training and hazardous communications.
- Use personal protective equipment as required.
- Be able to travel throughout operation.
