The role of the Hourly Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of manpower, parts and materials, and equipment access.  Reporting to the Maintenance Management Team or the Salary Maintenance Planner and maintaining liaison between Production and Manitenance, the Hourly Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling and coordination of all planned maintenance work performed on the plant site.  Through supervision of the Maintenance Administrator or direct responsibillity of maintenance records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of  maintenance related matters.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The planning and scheduling function is the hub from which all planned maintenance activity is coordinated.   It is the process of describing a job in terms of how it is to be performed and what resources will be required.  It involves a broad spectrum of activity.

The Planner must know the job well enough that he/she can describe what is to be accomplished and can estimate how many man-hours will be required.  If the Planner does not know the requirements, the assigned crew will not know the expectations.

The Hourly Maintenance Planner is the principal contact and liaison person between Maintenance and Production and other supported departments.   In this capacity, he ensures that all internal customers of Maintenance receive timely, efficient and quality service.  He also takes an continuing interest in customer (internal) needs.  With keen awareness of the customers situation (schedule, problems, tec.), the Planner is able to help Porduction balance their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through proactive maintenance. 

The Hourly Planner is responsible for long-range as well as short-range planning.  Longe-range planning involves the regular analysis of backlog relative to available resources.  These two basic variable must be kept in balance if a proactive maintenance environment is to be established and sustained.

Additional Planning Responsibilities:

  • Planning and scheduling for shutdowns (major and minor)
    • Bar Charts
    • Networks
    • Development of model shutdown plans by standard segments
  • Development of Planner reference systems including a file of Planned Job Packages for recurring jobs, plus labor and material libraries for each equipment center.
  • Keeps the Manintenance Management Team properly informed  of abnormal and critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside the Planner's knowledge or aurthority.
  • Makes recommendations for system improvement.
  • Promotes the conservation of energy.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • With management direction, responsible for:
    • Custodianship of the CMMS
    • Maintenance Cost Distribution
  • Maintains essential records and files from which he prepares and distributes accurate and meaningful management reports.
  • Interpretation and provision of historical equipment cost information.
  • Participation in budgetary preparation, tracking,and analysis.
  • Assists the Maintenance Management Team and Operations/Plant Manager in periodic analysis of cost trends with recommendations for continual improvement.
  • Performs other maintenance related tasks and special assignements as requested by the Maintenance Managers or Operatiosn/Plant Manager.
Minimum Education

Further technical education beyond high school or vocational training; minimum Perdue Manintenance A Mechanic technical and competency knowledge; demonstrated leadership and influential behaviors; and proven oral and written communication skills. Thorough working knowledge of Computer Maintnance Management System (CMMS); MS products; specifically spreadsheet savvy; and working knowledge of Purchasing system and protocol.

Experience Requirements

Three to five years prior/related experiencerequired.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Work environment includes, but is not limited to a normal office environment and construction site as well as climate extremes found in a poultry processing operation and a wastewater treatment facility.  This position requires an associate to have the ability to move throughout the complex and all facilities.  This position requires and associate to be able to be exposed to all chemicals found in a poultry porcessing operation and a wastewater treatment facility.  This associate miust wear and/or use protective safety equipment required for the job and for various locations.  This assoicate must be able to travel to remote facilities and/or offices for meetings.
