Summary

This position serves as a succession position for a “ready-now” director of operations who will; within 12-18 months, assume leadership of a Premium Prepared Foods procession facility.  Note: This position is generally enacted when an incumbent has declared his/her intension to retire or leave Perdue within less than a 24-month period.  The Incumbent entering this role will have led a CPG plant operation elsewhere and possess the qualifications and experience necessary to conclude the incumbent’s likelihood of advancement to & beyond DO.  This role provides candidates external to Prepared Foods with direct ready-eat/ready-to-cook food processing operational experience. The program oversite is provided the SVP, PPF Operations, but incumbents are assigned to either the VP, Retail Operations and/or VP, Food Service Operations for training purposes.  Incumbents in this role will learn all facets of site leadership associated with prepared food manufacturing, direct operational activity, maximize profits, maintain consistent product quality and meet customer needs.  Additionally, incumbents will be responsible for his/her assigned management team to select, develop, and motivate personnel as well as assure quality staffing at all levels of management while adhering to safety and ergonomic goals and objectives. Incumbents will be deployed throughout PPF division for training or to provide operational leadership as business demands necessitate.  S/he is expected to be mobile and shall be prepared to transfer as a director of operation when a vacancy occurs within Premium Prepared Foods. Full mobility is a requirement of entry into this position.

 

Relocation packages are available for eligible candidates.  The position can be based in NC or VA.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Develops and executes business plans for areas of accountability, achieves desired profitability and competitive objectives. Provides site oversight for all matters relating to the general operations of the plant facility.

2. Develops a strong, progressive management team to ensure the growth of the assigned business unit.

3. Provides guidance to the management team in developing solutions and budgets for improving processes, maintaining facilities, and innovative problem solving.

4. Ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements and promote a community image of the Complex as the preferred place to work.  Will be periodically utilized to serve as Perdue Foods’ local management representative to the community and applicable workforce at certain events or assigned local matters.

5. Ensures that product quality, service, and reliability meet or exceeds our customers’ expectations.

 

Minimum Education and Experience

REQUIRED:  Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years equivalent operations work experience at the direct of operations level or higher, plus 7-10+ years related CPG operations work experience.  Requires knowledge of budget development and administration, report analysis, USDA and employment law.  Must have a broad integrated knowledge of manufacturing in a CPG food company or business unit.  Must be able to travel to remote facilities and/or offices for meetings. Must demonstrate advanced continuous improvement/Lean Manufacturing experience, show success as a site senior operational leader.

 

PREFERRED:  Masters degree, World-class maintenance reliability, plus strong project management aptitude. Candidates for this role are desired to demonstrate advancement capability at least to the VP level in the future.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.

When in a plant environment:

Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.

May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.

May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.

May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.

Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company
