Summary

We are actively recruiting for a Senior Insights Manager.  This position develops insights from both primary and syndicated data across the Perdue Foods enterprise, gathering data and interpreting into stories to get to actionable insights. The Sr. Insights/Marketing Research manager role will support company growth and increase our connection with the consumer across all the company’s brands.  They support brand/product teams in creating new products, strengthening positioning, and aid in advertising, with effective and efficient quantitative and qualitative methodologies. With direction from the director, they will partner with our agencies and vendors, such as IRI, Kantar, MarketLogic, Qualtrics, IPSOS and other key research suppliers.  This individual will continually improve capability and competency through innovative tools and techniques and will occasionally interface directly with senior leadership in sharing findings and recommendations. The Senior Insights Manager will manage projects and build relationships across the organization and 3rd party market research vendors.

 

This position manages consumer research  for the organization reporting to senior director insights.  They will determine the best course of action to garner actionable consumer insights from the research investments we make.  They will gather, interpret and communicate the data and insights from working teams to senior leadership.  This position will support strategies that lead to the growth and increased consumer connection with the Company’s brands.  It supports the channel and brand teams in creating new products, positioning, advertising with effective and efficient methodologies for achieving insights and communicating them back to the teams to drive effective business plans.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute foods consumer and customer research agenda.  Assist director in identifying priorities, develop appropriate market research methodologies/studies, collect data, analyze results, synthesize and clearly communicate insight and recommendation(s).
  •  Assisting in the creation and execution of research plans for brands, channels, and other corporate initiatives to include, but not limited to the following:
    •  Recommending and evaluating various approaches to a strategic research
    • Brand Health & Reputation Tracking
    • New product concept testing
    • Quantitative research testing such as CLTs, Choice based models, segmentation, shopper journey, path to purchase, consumer decision tree, marketing media mix.
    • Qualitative research as needed, delivering reports in an accurate and timely manner. 
    • Tests of communication messages and vehicles, such as packages and advertising.
    • Gather data and develop reports in IRI Unify including POS, Panel, Shopper insights research and be able to integration of syndicated and custom research.
  • Create strategic partnership with brands, channels and portfolio leads, helping to connect insights and recommend actions and clear next steps.
  • Provide insights thought leadership and stay current on trends for retail, DTC, foodservice, and pet. Share trend insights across brands and channels.
  • Conduct brand strategy and advertising research (ie. digital, social, copy testing).
  • Improve organizational capability and competency through innovative tools and techniques using trend platforms such as Mintel, Datassentials, NPD, Euromonitor, etc.
  • Design research (surveys/questionnaires, polls), provide statistical analysis of data, develop a story using data visualization and statistical software programs (Qualtrics, other DIY platforms; SPSS, XLSTAT, Tableau). Some projects require DIY platforms while other projects require project management with preferred vendors.
  • Lead the design, launch, and analysis of qualitative projects using our DIY internal virtual focus group platform and/or qualitative AI research using our custom qualitative AI platform, UserTesting.
  • Provide digital insights support for our DTC channels by analyzing performance, make recommendations based on data and KPI reports using Qualtrics CX/CSAT studies and Google Cloud Platform (Google Analytics).

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required but Master’s degree is highly preferred. 

 

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years relevant retail insights/market research experience. 
  • Experience in both custom and syndicated data. 
  • Proven superior project management experience, with minimal supervision and manage shifting priorities.
  • Superior communication, collaboration, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong statistical knowledge to design and analyze data.  Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects. 
  • High attention to detail. 
  • Successful candidates will have experience with a diverse set of projects and a robust network within the insights/market research community.
  • Travel up to 10% based at corporate headquarters.
  • Travel up to 25% for remote

 

PREFERRED: Protein experience. Experience with survey and analytic programs such as Qualtrics BX and Qualitative AI.

 

 

This position is open to remote for candidates living in Eastern or Central time zones or relocate to our Corporate Headquarters in Salisbury, MD. A relocation package is available to relocate to our corporate headquarters. Expectations for remote employee is to travel for research project when needed, travel to our corporate office on a quarterly basis or when business needs arise. Additional travel may be required to attend professional organizational meetings.

 

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  1. Position is mostly sedentary at our corporate office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
  2. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
  3. May need to access files, supplies, and equipment.
  4. May require occasional travel to other offices or buildings. The position may occasionally visit a plant facility. When in a plant environment: exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floor which include metal and plastic grating surfaces, may be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity, may handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, may be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db, may be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry/food/processing facility, must wear and use protective/safety equipment required for the job as directed by the company.
  5. Travel up to 10%
