Summary

This position is responsible for leading and assisting the Perdue fleet dispatch team with daily operations.   Responsible for ensuring that all customer service and shipment related issues are resolved in a manner that meets or exceeds the customer's expectations. This position will be required to be involved with additional transportation projects as needed.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Lead Perdue fleet dispatch team daily to assist with routing of trucks to maximize miles and cost

Approve any out of route and empty movements

Review driver downtime 

Provide weekly dispatcher service score cards and conduct weekly meetings with dispatchers to review results

Develop and provide daily on time service reports to management

Oversee boards & floats in absence of another dispatcher

Train dispatchers – existing and new on processes and anything new

Support strategic direction of the department and company

Daily or Continuous Communication with drivers, team, plants & maintenance

Work across all tracking systems TMS, Load Tracking, YMS.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED

Experience Requirements

5 to 8 years’ experience in transportation and a strong knowledge of DOT regulations.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Strong systems aptitude and must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Understanding of Transportation Operations and Supply Chain Management.

 

Experience Preferred

College degree in a related field preferred; BS or Associates Degree (Logistics, Transportation or Business); Knowledge of the transportation function along with working knowledge of DOT regulation requirements.

Experience may substitute for education
