Summary

The Manager of Profit Optimization is responsible for analyzing RFPs & Contracts, COGS, Feed Pricing, Internal and External Inventory Levels, plant production mix capacity vs utilization and Marketplace projections (protein markets, Average Selling Price etc.) to deliver against business objectives for volume and profitable revenue growth. They will aggressively identify insights and opportunities to increase Whole Bird Profitability.  To accomplish this, the Manager collaborates across the entire Whole Bird Optimization organization to deliver recommendations to improve investment productivity and drive profitable growth. 

 

This position will be based at Corporate Headquarters in Salisbury, MD.

The salary range for this position is $84,000.00 - $126,000.00 per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Director of Profit Optimization, the Director of Financial and Profit Opportunity management, and Director of Demand Planning in modeling Perdue business choices against Whole Bird Metrics and Key Process indicators to improve profit, revenue, and capacity for commercial contracts and for the corporation at monthly, quarterly, annual reporting levels
  • Responsible for quarterly budget updates and annual budget planning
  • Accountable for the activities and results within the Whole Bird Process 
  • Demand & Supply Analysis  Validate upcoming RFP/Contracts
  • Identify Perdue Opportunities to shape profitable portfolio mix by channel & customer
  • Whole Bird plan development
  • Determine if production requires market-based sourcing
  • Model COGS/P&L based figure pricing scenarios & targeted profitability per pound
  • Based on future models: publish costs & market based price change recommendations
  • Publish RFP Contract pricing based on WB profit
  • Deploy future pricing forecasts to Commercial Strategy
  • Deploy by bird pricing requirements (cogs + production + profit)
  • Measure & Improve  Profit Optimization
  • Competitive pricing (gaps, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree in Finance, Management, Business or related discipline. The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Five (5) years in Finance and Analytical roles
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated commitment to leadership development, coaching and feedback
  • Five (5) years of revenue management/analytics experience in a Direct To Consumer or CPG company

Additional skills and abilities should include:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with capacity to multi-task and comfortable under pressure
  • Strategic thinking and planning
  • Excellent organizations and follow up skills
  • Experience with model creation and advanced reporting
  • Deep understanding of P&L statements - live, plant, logistics and customer costs and revenue
  • Ability or knowledge to learn marketplace tools for costs and pricing - grain, Urner Barry, EMI, USDA, etc.
  • Strong focus in process management
  • Leading forecasting and planning in a consumer and customer-oriented environment
  • Passion and commitment to build and motivate teams to achieve performance metrics
  • Experience in process improvement projects is highly preferred
  • Ability to travel to facilities (minimal)

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

 Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.

When in a plant environment:

Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
