The full sales & trade team is responsible for achieving the Annual Operating Plan targets (financial, market share, distribution etc.).  The Trade Marketing Manager (TMM) will work cross functionally with marketing, finance and supply to achieve the team’s objectives.  The TMM is responsible for partnering with the sales team to review & plan the trade programs across all categories & customers.  Each TMM is accountable for one sales region including retailers across multiple classes of trade (grocery, mass, club and dollar) & one Profit Management Team (PMT).  The Trade team is expected to leverage strong data analytic capabilities & deep financial acumen in this role.  The Trade Marketing Manager will report to the Vice President of Business Development.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as primary Trade contact for one of three sales regions and their assigned Profit Management Team (PMT) for the Premium Prepared Foods RTE and Turkey business.  Those duties are anchored in sound financial business planning & ongoing training & partnership with sales to drive P&L understanding that deliver vs. company goals.
  • Partner with the sales team in identifying new business opportunities & then plan to successfully execute against each opportunity.  This includes but is not limited to initiatives around distribution & planogram (core products or innovation), everyday pricing compliance, promotional planning (depth, frequency or quality of retailer execution) and trade spending reviews (efficient & profitable spending). 
  • Leverage category management principles to develop fact based, customer presentations to secure retailer agreement on identified opportunities.  Data tools to be used include IRI monthly consumption data; IRI panel data, segmentation studies, custom Perdue research etc.).   In addition, these tools should also be used to enable better-informed internal decisions resulting in increased sales and profits.
  • Responsible for maximizing raw materials and capacity through mix product reviews and mix analysis.
  • Review & validate monthly sales price results understanding key drivers for assigned sales region and PMT. TMM will take part internal reviews & special projects. 
  • Assists with internal deliverables leveraging shipment/financial data or IRI data for Sales and Marketing meetings or ad-hoc reviews, semi-annual sales meetings and broker reviews.  

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related discipline and 4+ years of related work experience with strong understanding of key sales & category management principles with a CPG company.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office platforms ideally including syndicated data. 
  • Sales, category management and/or marketing experience required. 
  • Ability to develop strategy using category and company financial information. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to travel to markets and facilities up to 15% of their time.
