Summary

The purpose of a Breeder House Person is to care for the hen turkeys, gather eggs and maintain the hen turkey .

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Travel continuously during shift throughout the hen turkey house on a litter and gravel surface in order to gather eggs, care for the hen turkeys, and maintain the hen house.
Push turkeys weighing up to 35 pounds off their nests in order to gather eggs.
Lift items such as litter; feed; and egg baskets weighing up to 80 pounds.
Move about the turkey hen house to check feeders; clean drinkers; spread litter and other duties necessary to care for the hen turkeys.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

In stationary positions or moving for up to 12 hours on a wet, moist, dry, greasy, smooth, rough, and uneven floors which includes concrete or litter surfaces with up to two (2) to four (4) hours in a single interval.
Ability to work from various ladders.
Exposure to and work in temperatures of<0 to >100 degrees Fahrenheit with ambient humidity, or dry exposure, noise exposure of <90 db, and light intensity range of <50 to >100 foot candles.
Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting, and grasping varies in repetitions, distance, degrees, angle, weight, height, longest interval of time, objects grasped, and body positions depends upon the task being performed.
Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
Exposure to chlorinated water <50 ppm, ammonia vapors >5 ppm, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils, salt and other chemicals found in a poultry breeder operation.
Must wear and/or use protective and safety equipment required for the job.
