Niman Ranch supports a community of more than 720 independent farmers and ranchers who raise pork, beef and lamb traditionally, humanely and sustainably to deliver the finest tasting meat. This position is responsible for managing, creating, and executing on all Niman Ranch brand creative initiatives including print, digital, experimental, and packaging. This role is a key player of the brand building process. We seek a team player that is a versatile and innovative creative designer with a passion for food and meaningful collaboration.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive all creative and art direction for the Niman Ranch brand from conceptualization to finished product across all design channels including digital, print, wearables, out of home, etc.
  • Oversee initial design concepts to final artwork, approval and production across the marketing mix including but not limited to packaging, labels, merchandising, sales material, campaigns, email, landing pages, advertisements, social media, trade shows, photography, animations, and video
  • Design and manage all Niman Ranch packaging and labels to adhere to USDA regulations often collaborating with Quality Assurance and Operations
  • Update product packaging when needed, route for approvals and send to print
  • Prepare and maintain mechanicals for trim and packaging production
  • Drives the creative direction of campaigns
  • Visually represent the voice of the brands through external and internal communications
  • Evaluate industry trends to deliver fresh, novel creative direction for all marketing materials
  • Bring the brand message to life through visual storytelling
  • Conceptualize and brainstorm new creative ideas for the brand
  • Streamline processes to increase productivity and accuracy of execution
  • Develop and implement templates for marketing collateral to maximize production output
  • Create, design, and develop digital assets to support interactive campaigns including email blasts, microsites, landing pages, web pages, animations, and other projects
  • Provide creative direction on experiential events including signage, invites, menus, programs, etc.
  • Develop sales support materials i.e., coupons, sell-sheets, brochures, presentation decks,
  • Design in-store merchandising and POS items including shelf talkers, endcap headers, rail strips, etc.
  • Design customized wearables including supplying/adjusting logos and reviewing embroidery
  • Tradeshow design and implementation
  • Own the proofing and quality control process of all internally produced content, ensuring the final deliverable is free of any off-brand messaging or visuals, grammatical, design, or other issues
  • Work with vendors and manufacturers to develop, proof and finalize end products
  • Take high-quality product photography and lifestyle photography including shoot and food styling
  • Retouch photos for marketing materials and websites
  • Video editing as needed for social media, presentations, and web
  • Apply brand standards across all touchpoints while also creatively problem solving and pushing the brand forward in new creative ways.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in graphic arts, multimedia design or related discipline.
  • 5-6 years of graphic design experience.
  • Must have experience working in graphic design departments of a CPG company or agency supporting retail or CPG

Experience Requirements

  • Strong creative and artistic graphic design skills
  • Meticulous eye for detail
  • Ability to drive creative design strategies
  • Must be able to work independently and also collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong understanding of web-centric design, responsive web design principals; experience with WordPress is a plus
  • Ability to move from design to production-ready artwork and coordinate with vendors to deliver press-ready/digital-ready files seamlessly
  • Basic to intermediate skill using a DSLR camera to shoot video and photography
  • Fluency with graphic design principles (typography, form, color, composition, photography, etc.) with the ability to follow design guidelines, yet push the boundaries as well
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills along with a can-do attitude and the ability juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Thorough knowledge of label/package design, including experience working within USDA regulations for the meat industry
  • Experience developing and maintaining brand identity and brand guidelines
  • Excellent knowledge of Mac software programs with mastery of Adobe Creative Suite; InDesign, Photoshop, Light Room, Illustrator, After Effects, Premier, etc.
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Motion graphic know-how is a plus
  • Brand experience and familiarity with the food or foodservice industry is preferable
  • Ability for minimal travel (15%)
  • email campaigns, social posts and reels, in-house photo shoots, short videos and animations, digital ads, brochures, mailers, website collateral, one-pagers, swag, merchandising and POS, large-scale event displays, and packaging.
  • Contribute to the growth of Niman Ranch with close attention to the Company's needs, culture and customers. Manage, create and implement the creative initiatives for the Niman Ranch brand. Deliver strategic and creative designs and solutions across a range of marketing platforms including packaging, sales materials, merchandising, trade show materials, promotional items (swag), corporate collateral, advertisements, web, social media, photography, and video.
  • GIFs, Video, social videos, video editing, moving/animated graphics, etc.
  • In-house photography, stylizing photoshoots, etc.
  •  Execute production design for print and digital media
  • Support all assets (print, digital, and chalkboards) for all marketing and PR events
  • Maintain relevance of apparel and package designs
  • Ensure all projects are proofread, edited and are completed within stated time estimates
  • Actively develop, support and activate the priorities of the Niman Ranch brand
  • Online portfolio demonstrating range of experience
  • Experience designing and prototyping with a variety of tools, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or After Effects
  • Experience developing brand systems and associated assets
  • Experience with motion design
