Production Planning/Purchasing Manager

Summary

To develop the production schedule for the plant, which includes sequencing, routing, and scheduling intermediate production orders within the SAP ERP system.    

To ensure the shop floor data collection system has all production orders needed and posted to the correct resource.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Creates and maintains the optimum Master Production Schedule to obtain maximum ROA from given facilities. These plans must meet both the short and long term goals.
2. Schedule plant to ensure items are sequenced by line, shift and day to ensure “least cost” production.
3. Optimize portioning schedule to ensure highest available yield
4. Responsible for Demand Planning of all RM’s/Ingredients/Production Schedules and Finished Goods
5. Creates and maintains the optimum inventory profile to ensure fulfillment of customer requirements, taking into account forecast accuracy, schedule compliance and production smoothing requirements.
6. Provide leadership and participation in all areas to insure procedures and policies are maintained and improved upon including Communications, Food Safety, People Safety, Freezer Upkeep, and Cost Improvements.
7. Achieve operational profitability objectives.
8. Overseeing, creating, monitoring and maintaining planned production orders in the SAP ERP system.
9. Oversee, review, and utilize available inventory to ensure fulfillment of production orders, taking into account schedule compliance and operational requirements.
10. Oversee and review Line throughput, allergen restrictions, line/product constraints, production batch sequencing, “push” raw material consumption and work shift capabilities.
11. Reviews forecast with Demand Planning to review issues such as product mix or capacity constraints. Examples would be identification of excess product in the future or feature requirements exceeding capacity at the default plant and assignment of volume to alternate facilities.
12.  Oversee and convert planned orders into production orders and ensuring they are downloaded to correct resource.
13.  Oversee and update production orders with substitutions, alternate resources and sequence.
14. Oversee and manually create production orders for fillet and tender portion process based on the planning manager’s schedule.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience of  5 – 10 years of purchasing/material management and production scheduling.   

Must have good working knowledge of Supply Chain principles and experience with SAP or other like inventory management systems.

Must have the ability to make real time adjustments and modifications to existing or current state conditions based on changing business and or production needs.

Must have good overall business acumen and must be able to transition into longer term production requirements.  

Experience Requirements

 5 to 10 years of purchasing/material management and production scheduling.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

1. Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
2. May need to more light equipm,ent or supplies from one place to another.
3. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
4. Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubical environment.
