The essential purpose of the wastewater operator is to efficiently operate the screening room.

 

Hours of Operation:

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Describe below the four to six major responsibilities of this position which must be fulfilled with or without reasonable accommodation to achieve the essential purpose of this position. 
  • Drive and operate a jockey truck to move loaded offal trailers to conform with production schedules. 
  • Operate pumps, valves, and associated fluid handling equipment for trailer loading equipment and wastewater pretreatment equipment. 
  • Perform cleanup activities for the entire screening room operation. 
  • Coordinate and communicate with production supervision on availability of Jockey Trucks and the pumping of blood. 
  • Assist Wastewater Operator, such as cleaning Clarifier weirs and UV bulbs.

 

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED, as described in the Kentucky Training catalog for Water Treatment Water Distribution and Wastewater Treatment Operation.

Experience Requirements

Must have valid state driver’s license. Must meet relevant requirement in the Perdue Safety Handbook.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

The environmental factors and / or physical requirements of this position include the following:

  • Work environment includes, but is not limited to, a normal office environment as well as climate extremes found in a poultry processing operation, a wastewater treatment facility, and the outdoors during the four seasons.
  • Requires ability to climb ladders.
  • Exposure to temperature ranges of <40 degrees to >100 degrees with ambient humidity.
  • Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting and, grasping varies in repetitious, distance, degrees, angle, weights, interval of time, object grasped, and body positions depending upon the task being performed.
  • Exposure to all chemicals found in a water/wastewater treatment facility and poultry processing plant.
  • Must wear and/or use protective safety equipment required for the job.
