Summary

The Farm Caretaker Properly mixes and administers vaccines to flocks in the field as prescribed by Growout management to maximize bird health and performance.

 

The salary for this position is $77,968.80 based on experience and qualifications.  The Farm Caretaker will live on the farm and the cost of rent for the house will be $1,350 per month paid through payroll deductions.  All utilities are provided by the company.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs other tasks such as but not limited to field feed inventories, rodent bait station maintenance, temperature monitoring (thermal camera) and generator checks as prescribed by Growout management.
  • Provides the Growout Manager with a weekly report with regards to bird health and/or vaccination issues.
  • Communicates with Growout management daily in regards to scheduling, vaccination or producer issues.
  • Picks up vaccines and supplies as needed for daily activities and coordinates vaccine inventory and usage with the Medication Department.
  • Responsible for properly handling, storing and disposing of vaccines in prescribed manner.
  • Properly cares for and maintains vaccination equipment.
  • Operates company vehicle in a safety manner complying with all company policies, state and federal requirements.
  • Cleans up company vehicle and equipment daily and follows all appropriate bio-security procedures.
  • Complies and follows company requirements regarding bio-security, food safety ad poultry welfare programs and policies at all times.
  • Maintains safety working environment.

Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

  • 1-3 years related experience.
  • Good communication (oral and written), reading, math, analytical skills and a background in statistics.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with no points. Certified copy of State driver's record for the past 7 years required before being employed.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Must be physically able to work in all locations including hatcheries, feed mills, chicken houses and processing plants.
  • Exposed to seasonal weather conditions as well as significant amount of airborne dust, feathers.

When in a plant environment:

  • Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
  • May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
  • May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
  • Exposure to chicken manure and associated odors, including ammonia, especially in the production houses.
  • Required to perform moderate physical exertion to include pushing pulling and lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb to a height of 30' as well as significant amount of bending, lifting and stooping.
