Summary

This position will optimize the inventory and logistics of trucks/barges/rail logistics to meet vessel shipments and other PAB locations. To ensure a consistent and quality grain supply to soybean crush facility. To maximize all mix/blend opportunities at the port facility and other PAB locations. to maximize dispatch earnings by coordinating inbound shipments with vessels. To maximize storage capability and handling capacity at the port facility and organ locations, as well as control overall facility costs by effective scheduling. 

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all barge movement logistics (dispatch, invoicing, barge reports, tug orders, etc.) with commercial, facilities, and merchandisers to ensure efficiency and company needs are met for all barge locations. 
  • Direct and oversee rail movement logistics with commercial and merchandisers to ensure efficiency, quality, and company needs are met for vessel loading maximization. 
  • Effectively manage grain and product movement through Chesapeake and PAB to maximize facility efficiency and grades, revenue generation, and meet internal/external customer needs. 
  • Ensure knowledge & compliance with GIPSA/USDA grain handling and warehousing regulation.
  • Coordinate and direct activities and plans with facility management, merchandisers, and internal/external traffic groups. 
  • Coordinate scheduling of vessel loading with the facility manager and international team
  • Communicate daily vessel, rail, and barge status, maintain logistics KPI's 
  • Assist in training and information sharing with vessel loaders and other terminal staff 
  • Manage the grain lab personnel 

Minimum Education

Bachelors Degree (Agriculture, Business, or Logistics) OR equivalent experience 

Experience Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience 
  • Knowledge of grain handling and storage facility operations and technologies 
  • Knowledge of USDA Grain Standards for domestic and export operations
  • Knowledge of rail, truck, barge, and vessel logistics 
  • Employee relations

Experience Preferred

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Able to move freely throughout the AgriBusiness facilities to include climbing vertical heights (0 - 150'), carrying tools and equipment (0-50 pounds), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity (0 - 100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available). Must be able to wear protective equipment to include self-contained breathing apparatus. Required to travel to remote AgriBusiness facilities and customer locations.
