Summary

The primary focus is retail sales & activity support with key Niman Ranch retailers, distributors, and brokers. Duties will include: working in the market with local distributor teams/sales reps, working closely with the Sales Director to build sales and brand loyalty and assisting with sales & marketing key relationships. The individual will be responsible for establishing and maintaining customer relationships with assigned key customers. Enhances and supports partner retail sales by providing point-of-purchase and store audits. 

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Sell the complete line of fresh Beef, Pork & Lamb and processed items into all qualified stores in the region, with a major focus on the top 15 processed items, Deli & Charcuterie.
  • Work with Sales Director to set priorities that will drive the velocity of key items with promotions, POS and other sales, and marketing tools on an on-going basis.
  • Provide merchandising support to key customers with the placement of Niman Ranch POS.
  • Maintain contact and CRM database with all stores and communication of programs to assure success.
  • Seek out new store opportunities, present Niman Ranch programs and secure new placements within existing as well as new customers.
  • Provides clear verbal and written information by reporting growth, expansion, or changes within customers in assigned territory.
  • Maintains quality standards/results by following and enforcing standards.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances merchandising and organization reputation by accepting ownership/responsibility for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Support the region’s overall growth by assisting with retail calls, distributor events and other sales support functions in the territory.
  • Determines call schedule by reviewing priorities with Sales Director: discussing special instructions, product promotions, new products, and price changes.
  • Maintains customer relationships by visiting with store managers, department managers, and associates; answering their questions; responding to special requests; describing product features.
  • Maintains store shelves by observing displays of Niman Ranch products; removing damaged or freshness-dated products; tidying store shelves; providing an optimum display of products.
  • Maintains display inventory by restocking shelves with product from inventory; observing inventory levels; prompting store management to reorder when levels appear low; arranging for return and credit for damaged products.
  • Ensure prompt and equitable disposition of customer complaints or problems
  • Completes call report by observing display and pricing of competitors' products.
  • Helps Sales Directors with special promotions, conducting & coordinating demos/selling events, distributor and end-user training, checking daily on special promotions; observing customer reaction to special promotions; forwarding observations to management.
Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in Sales or Business and minimum 3-5 years of retail food merchandising & CPG experience

Experience Requirements
  • Must have a solid understanding and experience in the meat/perishable industry.
  • Proficiency in written & verbal communication
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • CRM expertise, preferably with SalesForce
  • Must have a solid understanding of customer-focused and fact-based selling, including syndicated data.
  • Must be a reliable self-starter & determined to win
  • Must be located near a major airport hub.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle for traveling. Monthly travel reimbursement is provided
Experience Preferred
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Would work out of a home-based office. Phone and laptop are provided. Willing to travel 50%-75%, often daily, within territory with often early morning or late evenings required; some overnight trips and weekends; and travel quarterly to team meetings outside of the region. Must be able to rent a car. Will be occasionally subject to meat cutting environment conditions (wet floors, cooler temperatures, loud noises, meat cutting equipment). Constant interruptions are normal. This is an initial-level position responsible for building and supporting brand sales within a specific territory. The right candidate starts here to gain experience within the Niman Ranch company with upward mobility based-on performance
