The Marketing Manager is accountable for the development and implementation of all annual and long-range strategic business plans (objectives/strategies/tactics), in support of targeted volume and profit goals for their line of businesses. This person will work cross-functionally to lead the development and implementation of successful new product introductions, product reformulations and cost saving initiatives.  This position will also lead and work both internally and with external partners (e.g. agencies) on advertising, consumer promotions and packaging activities among others.  This position is responsible or supporting all sales channels including mass, supermarket, pet specialty, and ecommerce.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements annual long term strategic business plans for assigned businesses including all objectives, strategies and tactical considerations.
  • Achieves volume and profit goals, brand imagery, brand share and other objects set forth in fiscal year Marketing Plan.
  • Manages P&L to optimize profitability focusing efforts against controllable areas in Marketing.
  • Develops brand positioning and ensures consistent brand communication to the consumer.
  • Manages the marketing budget to maximize return without exceeding budget.
  • Works both internally and with outside Advertising, Consumer Promotion and Packaging agencies to ensure all projects assigned are completed to our high quality standards and on a timely basis.
  • Works within the creative development process via direct agency interaction on Consumer Promotions.
  • Manages cross-functional teams (PR, Consumer Promotions, Consumer Relations, Packaging, Operations, R&D) to ensure marketing initiatives get to market on time and are successful.
  • Manages the packaging design process including photography, proofing, ingredient statement and nutrition claims.
  • Proactively interprets and applies consumer research studies, syndicated information and competitive intelligence to successfully develop marketing strategies for profitable brand growth.
  • Works with Supply and Demand Planning to ensure maximized mix with optimized customer service.
  • Manages Pet Ecommerce initiatives.
Minimum Education and Experience

BS degree or equivalent related work experience in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing is preferred and 5+ years of related work experience.  Consumer packaged product experience with emphasis in commodity markets and/or meat specific experience a plus.

3. Ability to proactively identify business issues and develop and implement successful programs to grow the brand profitably 

4. Strong oral and written communication skills 

5. P&L understanding with strong quantitative analysis skills to make “fact based” strategic recommendations and decisions 

6. Ability to gain and retain cross-functional team support to ensure all projects are completed successfully and on-time.  


MBA is a plus.
