Summary
Provide work direction and training to Hatchery associates, monitor equipment functions, maintain the best possible environment for hatching the healthiest, highest quality chicks for placement with company growers. Must not have exposure to poultry or birds outside of work.
Benefits
This position has a base wage of $21.00 - $24.00 per hour, with opportunity for pay premiums and overtime where applicable. Annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

- $600 @ 30 days
- $600 @ 60 days

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Lead and delegate tasks to Hatchery workers to maintain hatchery efficiency and compliance to animal welfare guidelines

Identify and report equipment deficiencies in a timely manner

Incubation practices such as Egg candling, Egg breakout, and machine monitoring and calibration

Perform all duties as requested by management in a timely and efficient manner, in accordance with hatchery and company standard operating procedures, while fostering team spirit and morale

Maintain a safe work environment

Must not have exposure to poultry or birds outside of work

Comply with and follow company requirements regarding bio-security, food safety, and poultry welfare programs and policies at all times

Adhere to all safety rules including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and condition, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters
Minimum Education
- High school or equivalent
Experience Requirements
- A background in Broiler hatchery operations is preferred
- Knowledge and familiarity of PC applications such as Excel, Word and database applications such as Mtech Safety Chain is preferred
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift egg cases weighing up to 50 pounds
- Exposure to interior temperatures of 60 – 105 degrees and outside weather conditions
- Humidity up to 100%
- Work in a wet, damp, dusty (chick down) environment
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection as required
- Exposure to chemicals and vaccines used in a Hatchery Process
- Must wear and/or use personal protective equipment/devices in accordance with SOPs and company directives
