Summary

Perdue Farms is expanding the Safety & Security team! We are actively seeking an experienced Safety and Security Manager (Live Production) to support live operations. The Safety & Security Manager (Live Production) leads safety & security efforts for the assigned live operations facilities by maintaining a world-class culture through continuously improving safety processes. We are looking for a technical expert to partner with operations leadership to deliver operational results through impactful safety, health, and security solutions. The role will reside in the central North Carolina area near a major airport. Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads all safety & security efforts for assign Live operations facilities (hatcheries, feedmills, and live production operations). 
  • Manages, develops, executes, implements, and promotes a safety culture and behavioral based safety program throughout live production in conjunction with the collocated safety director.
  • Partner with the Perdue Agribusiness safety teams at cohabitated feed mill sites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
  • Directly leads & manages, safety for live production operations non-manufacturing facilities located within the vicinity of the primary assignment.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to engage and educate leaders across the organization on safety management systems, promoting a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Provides technical expertise for cross functional teams to ensure safe operational processes and capital/engineering projects. Collaborates with functional experts in vehicle safety, corporate security, environmental, PSM, and other areas to align facility activities and objectives. Provides interpretations for OSHA, NFPA, DHS, DOT, and other pertinent regulations to ensure processes and policies comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Continuously interacts with the hourly work force to promote safety awareness, drive associate engagement, and ensure a world-class safety culture exists within the operations supported.  Works aggressively to resolve safety issues and concerns.
  • Leads site safety business plan development by analyzing relevant data and tracking/reporting facility and corporate KPIs/metrics.  Validates plan’s actions through internal safety and security auditing tracking findings through closure.

Minimum Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety & Heath, or Industrial Health Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or Agricultural Science.

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in safety and security management, demonstrated experience leading a world-class safety program which has achieved <1.0 TRIR.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Industrial and grain handling safety & health knowledge.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent grammar and writing skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence others. Ability to establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate employees and communicate objectives and action plans.
  • Ability to research pertinent facts, data, and other information from internal and external sources.
  • Proficient use of computer and corresponding programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OHM, SAP.
  • Ability to implement behavioral-based safety techniques to improve/maintain safety performance.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to speak English (Spanish a plus).
  • Experience leading teams to achieve safety and security objectives.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
  • May need to access files, supplies and equipment.

When in a plant environment:

  • Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
  • May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
  • May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. May be exposed to dust, ammonia, and noise from farms and in the garage areas.
