Position dispatches shipments to fleet drivers and carriers using company software.  Transportation Coordinator communicates and advocates daily with the driver and assists with maintaining driver safety compliance eligibility.  

This position dispatches customer/transfer loads to carriers using our transportation software based on regional designation. Responsible for ensuring that all customer service and shipment related issues are resolved in a manner that meets or exceeds the customer's expectations. May also be required to be involved with additional transportation projects as needed.

Hours of Work: Day Shift


Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform daily dispatch to carriers following customer-specfic routing instructions and/or routing guides to efficiently meet customer delivery appointment times at the lowest. 

Dispatching Fleet based on DOT regaulations and availability.  Maintain a fair and consistent load planning process for the Over the Road and Short Haul Fleet assigned.  

Coordination of pickups/deliviers of backhauls. 

Acts as a liasion with Transportation Operations, Carriers and Customers.  Dailt interaction with internal, carrier and customer personnel as required.  Develop strong working relationships with Plant and DC Operations.  

Ability to investigate and resolve issues involving Transportation and complex and escalate to PTI Leadership Chain of Command.  

Candidate needs to be dependable, on-time, and to handle themselves professionally in a customer environment.  Ability to communicate effectively within a Team environment.  Drive continuous improvement efforts around our transportation process. 

Able to work weekend shifts on a rotational basis.  

Manage yard for accurate trailer reporting. Red Tagged equipment process.  Report yard maintenance needs to Facility Leadership.  

Perform additional responsibilities assigned by Management Team as needed.  






Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED

Experience Requirements

5-7 years experience in Transportation, Customer Service, Administrative or related; Excellent origanizational and time management skills. 

Strong systems aptitude and must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Outlook, Word and Excel; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to thrive in a fast-past environment; Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support department.

Experience Preferred

College degree in a related field preferred; BS or Associates Degree (Logistics, Transportation or Business); Knowledge of the transportation function along with working knowledge of DOT regulation requirements.
