Summary

Dispatches trucks to customer/transfer loads to carriers meeting the needs and requirements within the guidelines of the company feeding programs and customer expectations. Responsible for ensuring that all customer service and shipment related issues are resolved in a manner that meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.   Coordinates feed orders with customers and servicemen's needs as well as feed orders with panel operators on a daily basis. May serve as a lead.

This position has a target wage of $18.00 - $27.00 per hour, based on shift, experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance). Overtime may be available.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • If feed delivery, sets up delivery schedule based on priority by calculating available tonnage.
  • Weighs all feed returns, pickups and dispatches load accurately.
  • Generates various reports either off computer or a stand form to support feed schedules and shipments.
  • Communicates by telephone or radio to drivers, producers and flock advisors and record information.
  • Assists panel operators as needed in the production of feed.
  • May serve as a lead providing work direction and training to lower level Dispatchers.
  • As part of PTI, performs daily dispatch to carriers following customer-specific routing instructions and/or routing guides to efficiently meet customer delivery appointment times at the lowest cost.
  • Maintains facility trailer pools
  • Acts as a liaison between Transportation Operations, Carriers, and Customers. 
  • Daily interaction with internal, carrier, and customer personnel as required.
  • Provides shift coverage for late load clerk
  • Be able to investigate and resolve issues within a team and independently
  • Communicates effectively within a team environment.
  • Drives continuous improvement efforts around our transportation processes.

Minimum Education

  • High School or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

  • 2 -4 years experience in customer service, preferably in transportation. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong systems aptitude and must be proficient in Microssoft Office applications with an emphasis in Outlook, Word and Excel. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Understanding of transportation operations and supply chain management.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Exposed to climate controlled office and outside weather conditions, a significant amount of air born dust.
  • Ability to remain stationary for period of up to 2 hours during a normal shift.
  • Must be able to climb truck ladders and swing a 5 lb hammer.
  • When in a plant environment:
  • Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
  • May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
  • May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
