Perdue AgriBusiness has an opportunity for a Specialty Crops Logistics Planner at our facility located in Salisbury, MD


This position is Responsible for the execution and logistics of the container program for Organic and Specialty Crops.  Position is the liaison with the transload facilities and between the freight forwarders, brokers, and the Trade Execution Manager.   Position also has responsibility to move containers at minimal costs.  Lastly, provides various reporting for the supply chain movement of containers.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Executes the Specialty Crops ocean container program.  Executes import organic container logistics in fulfillment of sale contract terms which includes load order entry.  Also includes preparation of documentary instructions as per purchase contracts and/or payment instruments.  Forwards instructions to related parties, appoint surveyors, and services documents and provide final approvals for their issuance.
  • Develop and maintain container freight, route cost tracking to develop more predictable, lower cost freight.
  • Work with customs brokers to ensure timely processing of shipping documentation.  As needed work with CBP, USDA, and FDA to ensure timely release of cargo and proper documents for each shipment.
  • Provide detailed daily, weekly, monthly reporting for supplier, freight forwarder, broker and Organic Team. Reporting includes container flow and costs associated.
  • Execute on container offloading; work with transloading facilities and initiate/pursue direct drayage opportunities when needed/possible.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for all processes.
Minimum Education & Experience
  • Undergraduate degree and/or prior work experience in international container operations/logistics for agricultural products and a basic knowledge of organic grain and specialty crops product markets
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn the documentation process related to international trade on FOB, CFr, CIF terms, among others. Knowledge of or willingness to learn international payment instruments such as letters of credit, D/A, D/P etc.
Experience Preferred
  • Working knowledge of domestic international grain/oilseed trade frameworks such as FOSFA, GAFTA, NAEGA and NGFA.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

1. Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. 2. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. 3. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. 4. Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment. 5. When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
