This position dispatches customer/transfer loads to carriers using our transportation software based on regional designation. Responsible for ensuring that all customer service and shipment related issues are resolved in a manner that meets or exceeds the customer's expectations. Create strong professional relationships with: Drivers, PTI Leadership, Perdue Farms Leadership and Associates, Third-Party Associates, and Contractors.  The Transportation Coordinator must have strong communication skills and be able to successfully convey information to internal and external customers in real time, often with heavy interaction and collaboration.  This position requires the ability to problem solve, network with various departments, and make effective decisions based on the needs of the business.  May also be required to be involved with additional transportation projects as needed.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform daily dispatch to carriers or DOT drivers following customer-specific routing instructions and/or routing guides to efficiently meet customer delivery appointment times at the lowest cost.

Dispatch Fleet based on DOT regulations and availability.

Coordinate pickups and deliveries of backhauls.

Acts as a liaison between Transportation Operations, Carriers, and Customers.  Daily (and frequent real time and time sensitive) interaction with internal departments, carrier, and customer personnel as required.  Often issues are resolved only when multiple parties are meeting and working collaboratively on the issue.

Candidate needs to be able to be dependable, be to work on-time and be able handle themselves professionally in a customer environment. Communicate and collaborate effectively within a team environment. Drive continuous improvement efforts around our transportation processes.

Because of the heavy amount of intra and interdepartmental collaboration required, this position is 100% based in the office.  Most of the time will be spent sitting at a desk while on a computer and phone with frequent moments of impromptu or real-time collaboration with other departments required. 

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED

Experience Requirements

2-3 years’ experience in customer service, preferably in transportation.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, stressful environment where issues must be resolved collaboratively in real time with little delay

Strong systems aptitude and must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills.

Understanding of Transportation Operations and Supply Chain Management.


Experience Preferred

College degree in a related field preferred.  Experience may substitute for education
