The VP Transportation & Warehousing is the senior transportation executive position for Perdue Foods. The essential contribution is to provide both thought leadership and hands on operational leadership of our transportation and warehousing functions; delivering both a high level of customer service at a competitive cost. Principal duties are nationwide.


This position is based in Salisbury, MD, 30 minutes from the Maryland and Virginia beaches, and within 3 hours of Baltimore, D.C. and Philadelphia.  A comprehensive relocation package is available for eligible candidates.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the transportation, maintenance, garages, fleet, and warehousing to provide our customers with the highest levels of service at a competitive cost
  • Develop and execute of the annual operating and capital plan
  • Team participation and essential expertise based contributions to the development and execution of an evolving strategic design for the Perdue Foods supply chain
  • Operate and conduct business consistent with Perdue’s core values of Quality, Integrity, Teamwork and Stewardship
  • Develop the leadership team including an executable succession plan for senior roles. This also includes direct accountability for all associates within the maintenance, drivers, warehousing, and transportation departments.
  • Lead, through direct reports, managers, drivers and maintenance staff of the Company fleet
  • Direct the fleet of 40% private and 60% contract carriers
  • Lead with a strong familiarity with Lean Management Concepts
  • Travel as needed to other company facilities including distribution centers

Minimum Education and Education

REQUIRED: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or similar field, or equivalent of a combination of years of experience and education in perishable food related industries. The successful incumbent will have 15+ years leading transportation and warehousing functions in the perishable food industry.


PREFERRED: 20+ years experience in transportation and warehousing management. A demonstrated track record of strategic supply chain design and execution. Experience in perishable food logistics. Experience in a privately held company would be a plus.  MBA is highly desired.
