The Regional Sales Manager is a direct sales management position with a pre-established direct and food broker partnership sales network. This position will be responsible for managing existing customer base and developing those relationships to protect our current distribution while always striving to drive incremental growth. In addition to existing customer, this position will also be responsible for prospecting and generating new accounts that are aligned to strategic in-channel goals of the pork division.  In this position you will be responsible for interacting with the entire Coleman Natural Foods team. You will have financial responsibility to maintain and grow the Coleman Natural fresh and processed product-lines across both retail and foodservice customers within the assigned geography. Experience is preferred in traditional grocery, specialty/natural, club and foodservice channels. Experience in both fresh and processed pork is required, preference in selling premium proteins with natural claims. This position is responsible for directing all elements of the sales process from direct sales presentations, business reviews, cultivating new partners, driving branded in-channel sales and managing broker partners in addition to their training and/or evaluations. Travel 60%+ across sales area required to work with broker partners and customer-facing meetings (once COVID restrictions lifted along with Perdue Premium Meats Company (PPMC) travel policies, CDC and state ordinances).


This is a home based position and this person will sit on the West Coast (ideally around San Francisco, CA).

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. With the Sales Director and VP of Sales, you will provide input in developing the sales plans and sets strategy for your area of responsibility including: goals for volume, selling price, revenue, product mix, market share and overall   P & L; establishes a budget to control spending; and contributes meaningful input to the fiscal planning process
  2. Will act as a technical, product expert and brand ambassador to the customer. Provides training, creates sales presentations and develops strategic solutions to business issues that face the customer to service their needs and create and strengthen partnerships
  3. Responsible for forecasting the sales volume for your region that will drive production plans across both the fresh and processed operation teams.  Establishes customer programs and plans to accomplish the region goals
  4. Responsible for the regions sales standards, overview of customer service, supply chain initiatives, broker training, sales presentation, coordinating samples and continuous improvement of selling techniques utilizing fact based selling
  5. Leads the coordination of multiple resources across the Coleman Pork team’s eco-system to successfully close sales at existing and/or new accounts. Sales Director & VP of Sales will help facilitate and direct these initiatives to ensure success
  6. Utilizes and maintains the customer database as a tool for accurate account information, communicating weekly account updates and upcoming meetings. Actively participates in weekly team calls focused on key customers and areas of growth in your sales area
  7. Continuously improves skills by participating in training classes and seminars as deemed necessary in the developmental plan. These training opportunities will be a combination of both internal Perdue Corporate leadership and development programs accompanied by select external opportunities
  8. Trains, establish goals and accountabilities, and career development of any sales associates and/or broker partner within the region

Minimum Education

  • Bachelors degree in Sales, Marketing or Business Administration. 7-10 years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree. 

Experience Requirements

  • 3-5 years related experience. 
  • Experience is preferred in traditional grocery, specialty/natural, club and foodservice channels.
  • Experience in the meat and/or pork industry across both fresh and processed is required.
  • Must be able to prioritize to complete all tasks within the allotted timeframe.
  • Must exhibit politeness, confidence, tact, patience, and diplomacy while dealing with complex problems.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Willing to travel 50%-75%, often daily, within territory with often early morning or late evenings required; overnight trips and some weekends; and travel quarterly to team meetings outside of region.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.  May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db.
May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
