Summary
As a Facilities Technician, your role involves overseeing and maintaining the physical infrastructure of building, facilities, and grounds. You will be responsible for inspecting and repairing electrical systems, plumbing and general building maintenance. Collaborating with other team members and external vendors, you will contribute to the efficient upkeep and operation of plant to meet organizational needs.
- Schedule: 1st Shift (Monday - Friday 6:00am - 3:00pm; Weekend overtime required as business needs dictate)
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conducts routine maintenance of building systems, plumbing, electrical, and general infrastructure i.e., painting, general carpentry, floor repairs, installing general office equipment, lighting. Develops preventative maintenance schedules.
- Performs regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety and building codes, identifying potential hazards.
- Diagnoses issues with building systems and equipment, providing timely solutions to minimize down time.
- Responds to plant related emergencies, such as power outages, floods, and weather threats.
- Coordinates with contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repair services.
- Collaborates with other departments to understand plant needs and address concerns properly.
- Ensures a safe and clean environment for all associates.
- Works all required work scheduled.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED High School Diploma or GED and Equivalent Experience.
Experience Requirements
- 3-5 Years Experience in related field.
- Maintains Perdue Farms QEW Certification.
- Commitment to Continuous Learning to achieve increasing levels of expertise.
Experience Preferred
2-yr Technical Degree in Engineering or Industrial Maintenance.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, reaching overhead and/or at shoulder level, lifting (50 lbs.) and/or repetitive tasks throughout the day.
- Position requires occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
- Day travel to nearby locations sometimes required.
- May need to access files, supplies, and equipment.
- When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
- May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
- May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing plant.
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company
