Summary
Schedules assigned categories or plants for Niman Ranch Fresh & Prepared Pork division. This includes determining fresh pork surpluses, production scheduling, working closely with Fresh & Prepared Foods Production Managers, liaison with plant personnel and plant issues. Position also entails weekly coordination with other aspects of pork operations, trade marketing and sales for forecasting and allocation communications.
This position has a target base salary of $61,000-$84,000 and is eligible for comprehensive benefits, as well as relocation support, as applicable.
Preferably based in Niman Ranch Westminster, CO office or Sioux City/Sioux Center, IA.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Schedule weekly pork production based on estimated and actual orders for both Niman Ranch sales and Prepared Food’s needs.
- Forecast weekly surplus by primal based on: average weekly demand, head count, seasonal adjustments, forecasted demand and Prepared Foods demands.
- Coordinates outbound raw materials for scheduled Prepared Foods production.
- Carcass balance and utilization for maximum economic efficiency.
- Forecast forward weekly surplus of Prepared Foods raw materials.
- Manage strategic reserve of key raw materials with Prepared Foods team.
- Manages packaging, label and ingredient inventory at production plant and all Pork co-packers to ensure no disruption to production as a result of out of stock packaging.
- Evaluate Sales Forecasts vs. Actual Orders, working with Sales Forecasting Manager to improve accuracy.
- Periodically visits to production plants and co-packer(s) to address current issues or problems, find opportunities for lower costs and/or greater efficiencies.
- Assist in new product development on production yields and plant costs.
- Maintain Belly and Ham forecast worksheet.
- PTO back-up for Fresh & Prepared Pork Managers.
- Maintain master SKU sheet for both Fresh and Prepared Pork teams
- Manage weekly shorts and allocation worksheets.
- Manage freezer inventory reports and par levels.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in an Agriculture field, Business, or 3+ years of management level meat experience.
Experience Requirements
- 2-3 years’ experience working with manufacturing processes for prepared meats or fresh meats; preferred experience in pork or beef.
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Willingness to travel as necessary
- Team player and detail oriented
