As a Transportation Supervisor within the Department, this position is responsible for managing all phases and functions of Perdue Transportation Private Fleet Dispatch Operations to include both operations and administration in support of the timely delivery of dressed poultry products for the Transportation Department.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee daily private and commercial fleet dispatch operations, ensuring the meeting and exceeding of customer expectations and service goals

Supervise, manage and coach driver dispatchers for a 365 day dispatch operations.

Establish and maintain Perdue driver relationships. 

Reduce delivery expense by seeking out ways to gain efficiencies and drive continuous improvement.

Establish and maintain dispatcher, driver, and operations’ KPI’s and scorecards.

Proactive communication with internal and external stakeholders on related transportation matters.

Maintain proper coverage for all shifts.  Interview and hire associates as needed.  Train in all phases of operation.  Evaluate job performance.

Support strategic direction of the department and company.

Responsible for driver safety program and compliance to include training, safety compliance and accident investigation.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

High School Graduate

Preferred: Associates Degree

Experience Requirements

Prior supervisor/management in transportation, distribution or logistics.  Qualified candidates must have excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills; general knowledge of FMC DOT guidelines, and detailed geographical knowledge of the Eastern U.S

Experience Preferred

3-5 years of transportation, distribution or logistics experience; strong interpersonal, communication and project management skills

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Flexible work schedules (both days and hours) to handle weather, holidays or other service disruptions.

24 hours, 7 days a week on-call basis for matters involving customer service or safety of drivers.

Ability to travel to and from facility locations.

Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.

Exposed to office equipment, outside weather conditions.
